I've read several Stanley Booth obits and tributes since he passing, yours is the best by far. Reminded me that I need to read all of his work, not just the book about my favorite band. You certainly captured the essence of Booth's writing. Amazing that you got to speak to him a few times, that must be a wonderful memory. I tracked down his email years ago, but was always too intimidated to reach out.
"Reminded me that I need to read all of his work, not just the book about my favorite band?" "You certainly captured the essence of Booth's writing?" Then, mission accomplished! Thank you, Max!
This piece was so good, Tim. Your writing is on fire. The way you write about Booth's passion and brilliance, reminds me, in every line of text, why rock 'n' roll hooked me as a young teenager, why my connection to those early years still gives me an electrical charge today, as memories replay of the Stones and the blues and rock 'n' roll and punk rock, why it all mattered, even when we're still debating what it was really all about. And yeah, Raymond Chandler, that's the standard, and as you write about Booth or the Cramps or the Stones, it's obvious that you, too, are working in that elevated level of writing, and I salute you for it.
Fabulous homage, you did him proud with this piece. On a side note I’ve got a neighbor who used to book a club in Florida. She said she sat next to Colonel Tom Parker watching Elvis perform.
She is one of the folks at our local park. If I bump into her I will get her deets for you. She's gotta be mid 70's. She said she used to pickup the bands at the airport, like Led Zeppelin!

Tim, this was honest and beautiful. I'm subscribing for a year.
Thank you, Pat!
Great read, Tim, nice tribute!
Thanks, Joe! Means a lot, coming from you, my friend!

Thank you, Jesse. I truly appreciate it, because you "know your onions," as my old pal Cub Koda used to say.

Thanks, Lori! Wow! I have so many questions for your neighbor!
