To another Happier New Year

And another book.

A more peaceful life is not overrated. May peace and prosperity in all manners be ours going forward as much as possible in this sometimes tumultuous existence..

Much love and admiration.

Always ❤️❤️❤️

Hello! I'm here because Otis Gibbs recommended Michael Corcoran's site and he recommended your site. This is the first article I've read here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have listened to just about everything Elvis did, except large portions of the pablum he put out during his Hollywood years. I'm not a masochist, after all. I was surprised to hear you point out how involved he was in production and that he was so concerned about getting everything just right. One of things I find frustrating with Elvis is that he doesn't seem to take his performances very seriously. He was a great talent but spent so much time during his live shows mugging and joking during songs that I didn't think he really valued the song as much as interacting with the audience. He often seemed to be purposely being a caricature of himself. Maybe that was a result of the gilded cages you spoke of, or the unqualified adoration he received from the audience regardless of the quality of his performance. When people are excited just to be in the presence of "The King", you don't have to worry so much about servicing the song. You can just play the role of "The King" and the crowd will be thrilled. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but that's my two cents. Thank you for the thought provoking article.
