Hey folks,
Just a quick update—this week, I’m shifting gears to focus on some crucial fact-checking for Anarchy In The Studio. Specifically, I’ll be nailing down single release dates, ensuring everything is rock solid before this thing goes to print.
That means Substack posts might be a little light for the next few days, but don’t worry—I’ll be back with more soon. And trust me, the work I’m doing now will pay off when Anarchy In The Studio hits the shelves.
Now, I can hear some of you grumbling already:
"But Tim, WHEN is the book coming out?! You announced it almost a year ago!”"
Believe me, I wanna hold a hard copy as much as you do. But this is not some quickie, fly-by-night book. What started as a coffee table book of ‘70s punk album covers has evolved into something bigger—an encyclopedia crossed with a Taschen book. That means there are a lot of facts to check, plus photos on every page, all of which need to be cleared and paid for. These things take time.
My publisher is a small operation. The team working on this book consists of just three people, besides myself. It’s a DIY effort—much like an indie punk label—and none of this is a simple process.
It means a lot to me that so many of you are eager to read it. Unfortunately, I still can’t give you a concrete release date, but we’re aiming for the first half of this year. We refuse to cut corners just to get it out faster—this book deserves to be done right. You, me, and Ruffian Books all want the same thing: a book that absolutely delivers. After all, my publisher is not a division of Acme™ Corporation.
For updates on pre-orders, sign up at Anarchy’s page at the Ruffian website. And of course, I’ll let you know the moment it’s finally ready. Trust me when I say that we still have some work to do, but you will be the first to know when you can get it.

Thanks for sticking with me while I make sure this book is as accurate (and kickass) as it should be.
Stay loud,

And then there's this, regarding the Reflected which morphed into Elected: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elected_(song)
Thanks so much for acknowledging the beginnings of punk music and mostly not calling it proto punk!
